The Great Western Greenway….. The Great Western Greenway has been designated a European Destination of Excellence, establishing it as one of the finest trails in Europe. The Greenway which runs by the hotel is a wonderful facility for walkers and cyclists alike. The trail mainly follows the track of the famous Newport / Mulranny railway which closed in 1937. The Greenway is the longest off-road walking and cycling trail (42km) in Ireland passing through some of the most stunning scenery in the West of Ireland. Wild Atlantic Way…. Wild Atlantic Way is a 2500km (1500 miles) driving route, stretching from Malin Head in County Donegal to Kinsale in County Cork along Ireland’s western seaboard. In Mayo the Wild Atlantic Way is a 543km coastal drive and much of Mayo’s spectacular natural scenery lies along it. There are thirty-one Discovery Points and two of them are indicated as Signature Points: Keem Strand, Achill Island and Downpatrick Head and Mulranny is situated in a prime location on the Wild Atlantic Way.
